AGE-WELL & AHSN Network International Innovation Exchange Webinar Series: Engaging Older Adults in Research and Innovation

Join the AHSN Network in partnership with the Canadian AGE-WELL network for the second in its joint series of International Innovation Exchange healthy ageing events.

‘Engaging with Older Adults in Research and Innovation’ will feature three presentations from international leaders in understanding the needs of older adults and ensuring their meaningful input into research and innovation.


Professor Lynne Corner is a gerontologist and Director of VOICE at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA). VOICE is an international organisation established to harness the immense experience, skills and insights of the public, of all ages and backgrounds, including older people with dementia. Members work with research and businesses to identify consumer unmet needs, priorities and aspirations, and co-design and co-develop products and services that are needed to support people living with dementia and their families.

Dr. Susan Kirkland, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, at Dalhousie University, is one of three principal investigators leading the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, a prospective cohort of 50,000 men and women who are being followed for 20 years. In addition to her role as project lead for SMARTech, & OA-INVOLVE 2, she is the research representative on AGE-WELL’s Board of Directors.

Lisa Butland joined Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees as their Chief Executive in 2017.  Age UK is the leading charity dedicated to the care of older people in the UK.  Prior to that she had a 30-year career in the NHS and spent the last 9 years building collaborations with academia and business to bring innovations into health and care.

This is the second webinar in a series of joint events hosted by the AGE-WELL Network in Canada and the AHSN Network in England, focussing on innovation in healthy ageing – the first of four events to be held this year, in 2021.
