First international Innovation Exchange webinar for innovators

Posted on 10th November

The AHSN Network’s Innovation Exchange holds its first international event this month, in partnership with the Canadian network, AGE-WELL. The event, co-ordinated by the West of England AHSN on behalf of The AHSN Network, is the first in a series in what is projected to be a three-year UK-Canadian innovation exchange programme. The aim of the event series is to share knowledge and foster learning and future dialogue between AGE-WELL (Canada’s technology and ageing network), The AHSN Network, UK-Canadian-based innovators and stakeholders in the healthcare space.

In common with many developed and developing countries, both the UK and Canada face the challenge of supporting the health and wellbeing of an ageing population. While it is widely accepted that communities and individuals need to take a more proactive role in maintaining health and wellbeing, it is also recognised that new health technologies and services have a major role to play.

The aim for the partnership is to support the adoption and spread of new health technologies in both countries, through shared learning and networks, and the facilitation of collaborations across health, academic, industrial and third sector organisations.

Dr. Nigel Harris, Director of Innovation and Growth at the West of England AHSN, says:

“Both The ASHN Network and AGE-WELL network share a common mission to facilitate collaboration, in order to support the development and adoption of new health technologies. This common purpose brings opportunities for shared learning and support; AGEWELL has been particularly successful in building up academic-industrial collaborations, while The AHSN Network has internationally recognised expertise in supporting the adoption and spread of new health technologies.”

Michael Chrostowski, Business Development and Industry Relations Manager at the AGE-WELL network, says: “Never has the need for innovation and technology benefiting older people been more urgent than it is today. AGE-WELL and The AHSN Network have created a knowledge base and respective ecosystems that can help innovators from the UK and Canada address this need both now and in the future.”

Date: Thursday 12 November, 4pm.  Register now here (places limited.)
