Another successful year for the West of England Health Innovation Programme (HIP)

Posted on 30th October

This month, 15 fantastic delegates, with a diverse range of innovations, became the HIPsters of class October 2019 on our Health Innovation Programme (HIP).

Just in case you hadn’t heard already… The West of England HIP is a four-day personal development course for innovators developing healthcare solutions. The HIP has been a huge success over the last five years with innovators taking on a wide range of healthcare challenges and graduating with promising business propositions.

There were 15 fantastic delegates on the October West of England HIP with a very diverse range of innovations from antenatal classes and accessible gyms to an antibiotic susceptibility test. The October West of England HIP was available through the Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Life Science Innovation Hub and was funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme. The Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Life Science Innovation Hub Programme is coming to an end on the 31st October. But fear not! HIP will be continuing so keep your eyes peeled and watch this space!

    What did the HIPsters learn?

The West of England AHSN Innovation and Growth (I&G) team worked with SETsquared to develop and deliver a jam packed agenda. Over the four days the HIPsters learnt about a number of different topics, including accessing funding, how to seek regulatory approval, the NHS as a marketplace and evidence and evaluation. Not only this, but they were also formulating their individual business models along the way.

The programme concluded with delegates pitching to a panel of healthcare and business experts from the West of England region and receiving one-to-one feedback. To top it off, they were all awarded with the highly coveted HIP T-shirt! We’re excited to stay in touch with the latest cohort of HIPsters, and see how their innovations grow and develop.
