“The Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) is an NHS England funded initiative led by the Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) to develop technology solutions for known healthcare challenges.“
Chris Padgett, Innovation Exchange Coordinator

SBRI Healthcare is an NHS England funded initiative led by the Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) to develop technology solutions for known healthcare challenges. The next funding round focuses on finding innovative solutions with the ability to transform the pathway of cardiovascular disease, including detection, prevention, efficacy and interventions.

Heart and circulatory diseases cause more than a quarter of all deaths in the UK and the British Heart Foundation have identified that there are around 7.4 million people living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK
The NHS has an ambition to prevent over 150,000 heart attacks, strokes and dementia cases over the next 10 years. Whilst much of this can be met through sharing of best practice there is also a significant unmet health need, to which this competition is looking for novel solutions.

Details of the background, challenges and expected outcomes of the projects can be found on the SBRI website. There are also two briefing events (1st July & 10th July) for this call, which you can find on our events page.

SBRI Healthcare welcome applications from companies with solutions that can enhance the screening, diagnosis or management of cancer. Successful applicants can receive up to £100,000 of funding for phase one (feasibility) and up to £1 million for phase two (development) for solutions that match the needs of the NHS.
